Chalet Sonnenfreude is a place with a history dating back to 1937 and accommodated lots of celebrities in the past. It has been a well-kept secret by the famous who love the Gstaad region.

The Chalet is located near the picturesque village of Schönried (1350 meter altitude), Gstaad region, in beautiful Berner Oberland (Switzerland). It was build by the Braat Family, from the Netherlands, in 1937 as one of the first Chalets in Schönried. It is now treasured by the current 4th Generation Van Walbeek Family, who are opening up this hidden treasure to the public.

Chalet Sonnenfreude is a "villa" with private driveway (100 meter), offers complete privacy and is situated on the southern slope with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. To keep the unique feeling of history in place the driveway has kept its original charm, a four-wheel drive car is recommended during winter however not during the summer period.

The chalet sleeps 7 guests in 4 bedrooms. With a lounge, a well equipped separate kitchen, two balconies, and a conservatory and surrounded by a garden with terrace it is the ideal getaway for families as well as couples.

Schönried is within walking distance, Gstaad within 10 minutes by car, the ski slopes are all within minutes from the chalet. Exclusive Stores, food corners (of which some are open on Sunday) and restaurants are well represented in the area.

There is a bus stop at the start of the driveway and the railway station is within 10 minutes walking distance. A variety of luxury spa accommodations as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools are close by.
